Sometimes, only an open letter will do....

Hence, to one and all:

Please accept my thanks for the wonderful time and the courtesy as was extended to myself and my wife at the TaiKai.

It would be impossible for me to elaborate on the pride I feel with the knowledge that so many fine people welcomed us so graciously into the ranks and extended the greatest gift of all..."friendship."

I wish I could say more than a simple thank you but as uncomplex as that is, it is heartfelt and sincere to one and all.

Yours,

P.S. Hopefully, some of the folks who promised copies of the many photos that were taken will send a shot or two via an Email transmission.  They will be appreciated more than I can express. (See, Generals can beg! Ha Ha).

Great rooms, great food, great beach, fantastic training and wonderful spirit. A big thanks to Mark, Jack and all the other staff that worked so hard to make this last USA Tai Kai one that will be long remembered by all who were there.  Don't know why Sensei moved the date up one week, it must have been hell for you guys, but it was nice to have electricity the whole Tai Kai.

Thank you, my brothers, for the ultimate Tai Kai. You have achieved such a level of production mastery that you made it all look absolutely effortless, although I realize it required unique skill and tremendous effort and coordination. The two of you were responsible for masterminding the first Tai Kai in San Francisco in 1986 where I initially met Sensei, and you have now completed the final expression of the deep commitment of American buyu to our Japanese mentor and friend.

When I chatted with Sensei on Sunday at the morning break, I mentioned to him I had seen a sign in my hometown, just as I was leaving to come to the Tai Kai.

The sign said, “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.”

These Tai Kai throughout the years, of which you are the founding fathers, have unified the Bujinkan and assured its ultimate survival. The events have formed a continuous global relationship between Hatsumi Sensei and all of his students. Enough good people are now involved that our teacher’s precious legacy is certain to survive and to prosper.

I am so grateful for what you two gentlemen have done for me over the years. I feel as if you gave Sensei to me. You were willing to share him with me and all of our friends. You truly embody the essence of buyu.

With tearful, yet smiling, thanks, and with kindest personal regards,

Dane

Great Tai Kai Event! You have done a great service to Soke Hatsumi and the Bujinkan by producing a fabulous, smooth event and for that we are all truly grateful.

Thank You,
Rich Van Donk

I just want to tell you that I had a great time at the TaiKai. This was a nice size TaiKai which made everyone available to meet and talk with.
I had attended the one in 1997, although I had enjoyed it, I appreciated this one even more.

Training with Hatsumi Sensei was great, I even got to, pass the Godan test. This is a weekend that I will remember for the rest of my life.

Thanks for a great TaiKai !

Dear Taikai staff,

This Taikai was truly a fantastic and unforgettable experience!!! Not only is Hatsumi-sensei's skill amazing, he also teaches in a very skillful manner in that he shows ways of using the same principle in different applications. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Myself being in a wheelchair, seeing PJ on stage was especially a motivating experience. Thank you Hatsumi-sensei, for the wonderful Taikai.

Excellent Taikai. 'Classy' while still being laid-back and it had a very comfortable feel. It reminded me of last years' Taikai in that staff and security came across more as hospitality personnel than guards and everything had a friendly feel. Also the big screens do make a world of difference.

Hasn't sunk in that it is supposed to be the 'last' one here. If it turns out in fact, to be, we certainly ended the era on a good note. Congratulations and Arigato to all the staff, Mark and Jack.

BTW if anyone comes across a brown pad holder it had some things in it including an old photo with General Kemper, myself and some others that I would really hate to lose. Please e mail me at GKowa32134@aol.com. TIA

Jack and Mark did an unbelievable job at hosting the best Tai Kai ever.  The telling or re-telling of how Dr. Humphrey provided the 3rd Warrior's Creed admonition brought tears to my eyes...very, very moving.  Thanks for re-awakening my courageous warrior's spirit.

This was my first Tai Kai and I consider it to be a profound experience that has influenced my life greatly!  A heart-felt Thank You goes to all the Tai Kai staff for making the event a safe, comfortable, and joyous environment for learning.  I learned a deeper sense of what "Buyu" and "Budo" really mean as we all joined hearts to develop greater understanding from Hatsumi Sensei's lessons.  Thank You, Hatsumi Sensei, for openly sharing your benevolent heart with us all - you've done so much to make the world a better place, one person at a time.  To everyone, Gambatte Kudasai!

Sincerely,
Chris

To All Who Attended,

The last TaiKai was the best experience of our lives. Watching Soke move gracefully with such flow is inspiring. We would like to thank all of those involved for making this experience possible and giving us a glimpse of true Budo at it's best. The memories will stay with us forever. From the staff to the friends we made during training, Thank you all.

We wouldn't have missed it for the world!!!

After a day at home I still think about the Taikai. Sensei's teaching was great and the organization was wonderful.

From the beginning until the end of the Taikai there was a happy and friendly feeling so I like to thank Mark, Jack and the whole staff for one of the best Taikais I attended.

I hope and look forward to meet you again.

As someone relatively new to the Bujinkan, I was very excited to learn directly from Soke Hatsumi and to see the generations of students training together at the Tai Kai. However, I think I was most pleased to experience just how accurately the Soke's teachings are being passed forward at my dojo and the many other dojo represented there. Ninpo lives!

Thank you all for a most wonderful experience that I will remember always.

Best regards,

Firstly I must compliment (and THANK) you and your team for a most stellar, wonderful Tai Kai.  It was my first and now I am looking forward to any and all in the future.

I must tell you how extraordinary the energy was, really in every moment. Sensei and you all set an atmosphere that was comfortable for all. It was a very high level, filled with compassion and joy. At least that was my take on it.

Every Best Wish,   Joanie

I wanted to take an opportunity to say a sincere "thank you" for an incredible event in this year's TaiKai.  This was my first TaiKai, and I can not have imagined it being a better experience!  My wife Venessa accompanied me, and although she does not train, she did take the opportunity to observe during all three days' sessions, and said many times that she had a wonderful time and truly enjoyed watching Hatsumi Sensei and the training.

I hope to be able to take this training with me in my heart for years to come.

Thank you both again for an unforgettable experience!

Warmest regards,

Tom Amoroso

Dear Taikai stuff,

I loved the last Taikai the best. It was a simple yet excellent event for all of us. Taikai staff worked very hard and made everything so smooth.

We, the participants enjoyed Soke's singing with Mr. Jack Hoban. It was worth listening. Soke dressed in Kinagashi was so wonderful.

Thanks to you all who participated in the last Taikai to make it special for Soke. See you all in the future soon again.

Mata atode,

Keiko
