Please feel free to call, write, or email our offices to find our current
training locations, schedules, events, and fees available, or any other
information pertaining to training with us in the art of Budo Taijutsu.

OUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY is to provide a safe and relaxed environment, without sacrificing realism, in which dedicated practitioners and enthusiasts can train in Budo Taijutsu as passed down, and currently being practiced by the Grandmaster, Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi.   Budo Taijutsu is a living art, and must be studied and practiced as such to be of greatest benefit.    We consider ourselves to be one family, and endeavor to train in an environment of cooperation and mutual benefit, so that all of us may grow to our highest potential.

THE HEAD INSTRUCTOR and coordinator of White Lion Tenchijin Bujinkan is JEF BURGUS. Mr. Burgus is a Licensed Shidoshi and member of the worldwide Shidoshi Kai organization under Hatsumi Soke and is a licensed East Asian Medical Practitioner in Washington state.Sensei Burgus has over three decades of experience in Bujinkan Taijutsu as well as other complimentary martial arts and East Asian medical practices. He has been teaching martial arts classes for more than a quarter century, and has been privileged to make multiple trips to Japan to continue his personal training in the current martial arts of Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi as well as other generous, honored and accomplished Shihan (and now, individual Sokes), of the 9 Ryu. In addition to Bujinkan training and instruction, Shidoshi Burgus is also a licensed practitioner of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, holds teaching certifications in various forms of Chinese Qi Gong, and has been responsible for directing the instruction of the therapeutic staff for several residential psychiatric programs in techniques of safe and secure physical and communicative management of actively aggressive patients.

The White Lion Dojo and its affiliates are associated with the Tenchijin organization of Bill Atkins, Shihan (Master Instructor.) Mr. Atkins has been a personal student of Hatsumi Soke for over 20 years and has over three decades of martial arts experience, having mastered and taught several forms before training in Bujinkan Taijutsu. Shidoshi Burgus has been privileged to be a personal student and friend of Mr. Atkins for over a decade.

Welcome to those searching for quality training. Due a great deal to Shihan Atkins efforts, this region (the Pacific Northwest) is rich in excellent practitioners and instructors of Taijutsu, many of which I have been honored to have as friends, brothers, and teachers. Some of these have web pages linked below, and I recommend visiting these sites as well.  For those of you considering or already training, enjoy your journey, and as Soke says Keep Going!  -jef
